Squeaky Noise In My Attic

Squeaky noise in my attic.

Wall or attic sounds. High pitched squeals or a grinding noise from a furnace or an air conditioner could mean that a moving part is not moving the way it should and requires quick action. Twice i heard noise in the attic above my bedroom. Due to regular wear and tear these bearings can become worn out or lose their lubrication ability.

Climb the ladder remove the access panel and enter the attic. No sign of vent damage. The air vent in my room is no where near the noise and the noise is not coming from a ceiling fan. Every morning between the hours of about 7 30 8 30 there is a persistent type of squeaking from the attic above my bed.

Sounds like silent knock on the attic. Be sure to lubricate the bearings. These are located in the track where the pipe coming out of the roof meets the spinning part of the vent. Throughout the cooler months mice tend to enter our homes or businesses searching for food and shelter.

The bad news is once inside mice tend to reproduce quickly causing an infestation before you even knew it was happening. This can cause the fan to start making constant noise and in some cases even a loud squealing sound. But when we opened the cabinet where the vent goes up in the stove we found a hole as big as a golf ball. Find the noisy turbine and apply the lubricant to the moving parts of the turbine.

Immediately shut off the system then wait a few moments and turn it back on. Attic fans also have small ball bearings that help lubricate the fan s movement. I have looked in the attic for things such as droppings etc looked outside for things like vents coming from the roof but there is nothing.
